Tema, Ghana BYU-Pathway Connect

July 2023 Class

Our class of eight women and twelve men use laptops provided by Help Start Education Foundation. We have completed our BYU-Pathway Connect work and will continue to the degree programs through online courses from BYU-Idaho University or Ensign College. Thank you and bless you!

Transforming Lives through Laptops

Prior to the intervention of the Help Start Education Foundation, members of our community aspiring to pursue education were faced with a significant hurdle - the absence of laptops. This led to a steep decline in BYU Pathway enrollments and waning interest among those wishing to embark on their educational journey.

With HSEF laptops, everything changed. These generous donations not only caused a remarkable surge in enrollment rates but also transformed the lives of students in profound ways. The laptops opened doors, ignited passion, and enabled dreams to become reality. Once demotivated students now exude enthusiasm and eagerness to learn.

Many laptop recipients harness their newfound technological capabilities to pursue self-employment opportunities. They explore entrepreneurial ventures, create online businesses, and find avenues for financial stability. The ripple effect of these opportunities contributes to an overall improvement in the self-reliance status of both members and non-members in our area.

I wholeheartedly endorse HSEF’s mission to bridge the educational gap by providing essential resources to those in need. Their efforts demonstrate that with the right support, individuals can overcome barriers and achieve their goals. I am forever grateful for their invaluable contribution and the lasting impact they have made in the lives of so many.

God bless you and your donors!

Sincerely,

Pres. Prosper Mensah

Thank You!

Laulosa (Samoa) – “When I first heard of PathwayConnect, I decided…that it would be easy for me but it was not. It was a tough year for me and I started to give up…continuing my education. My parents had been sick…there was not enough time to do and complete homework and assignments…there was not enough money to buy credits for internet use and no laptop because I couldn’t afford it and only used my cell phone…and was unable to join group gatherings at all. But all these problems were resolved…when I was fortunate to receive a laptop from Help Start Education Foundation. I finally completed and graduated with my PathwayConnect certificate and was accepted as a fixed-term substitute teacher. I am now earning enough and am able to provide for my children and family needs…Now, I am continuing to take courses for a degree in Professional Studies. I am still working and using every skill I have learned and know to help young children in my community.”

Martin & Abigail (Ghana, West Africa) – “We sincerely as couples write to show our appreciation to Help Start Education Foundation for their support given us by donating laptops to us to enable us to do our BYU Pathway course… At first, we had to withdraw from the course due to the inability to do and submit assignments all because we didn’t have laptops… It really became a challenge to us whether we could enroll again or that was the end of the journey towards achieving a degree in our BYU Pathway program… All that we can say is God bless you and help with all you do to help His children on earth to gain knowledge.”
